Parish Nursing

The Parish Nurse Program will support and train parish nurses who will be connected to a congregation located along the state highway 95 corridor in East Williamson County.

The Parish Nurse Program will serve in a variety of ways to promote health for the whole person. Parish nurses will act as health educators, personal health counselors, health advocates, referral agents, coordinators of volunteers, and integrators of faith and wellness. They will counsel congregational members on medications, lifestyles, and diagnostic tests to improve health and well-being.

Each parish nurse will hold current registered nurse [RN] licensure & practice nursing under the Scope & Standards of Faith Community Nursing developed by the American Nurses Association. Parish nurses are legally held to the Scope and Standards of advanced practice for Faith Community nurses. Parish nurses must comply with rules and regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act for Registered Nurses administered by the Texas Board of Nursing.

The Parish Nurse program is a proud member of the Tripp Center Initiative in Taylor, Texas.
